Wrinkle relaxing injections are a cosmetic treatment designed to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. The injections work by relaxing the muscles responsible for creating the wrinkles, which in turn smooths out the skin’s surface. The most common areas treated with wrinkle relaxing injections include the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes (crow’s feet). The treatment is typically done in medical and cosmetic clinic, and the effects typically last around 3 months before additional injections are needed to maintain the results. It is important to note that while wrinkle relaxing injections can effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles, they do not stop the ageing process altogether.

What we do

The wrinkle relaxing injections procedure involves cleansing the targeted area(s), applying a topical anaesthetic, and injecting botulinum toxin into the muscles responsible for wrinkles. The injections take only a few minutes and may cause little discomfort. After the injections, patients can resume normal activities but should avoid strenuous exercise or lying down for several hours. Effects usually take a few days and can last up to 3-4 months.

How long does wrinkle relaxing injections last?

Typically, wrinkle relaxing injections will last 3 months meaning that the regular client will need up to 4 treatments per year to maintain results.

Will anti-wrinkle injections smooth out ‘Static’ lines?

Wrinkle relaxing injections work by minimising muscle movement meaning minimal lines when expressing certain areas of the face. These are called dynamic lines. Static lines are present when our face is at rest. Wrinkle relaxing injections do not completely remove static lines, they prevent dynamic lines developing into static lines. With that being said, Wrinkle relaxing injections are known to smoothen static lines, even more so if the client has this treatment regularly.

Can I have my forehead (frontalis muscle) treated on its own?

The forehead (frontalis) is a ‘pull’ muscle. Because of this, it must be treated in conjunction with the frown lines. Otherwise it will cause the forehead to feel heavy and may drop the eyebrows throughout the course of 3 months. To clarify, the forehead cannot be treated on its own.

Are the results instant after treatments?

Wrinkle relaxing injections results commence in 3 to 5 days and can take around 14 days to be fully. Throughout the 2 week period, it is normal to see some unevenness and movement due to muscles working differently. This evens itself out by day 14.

Do I need a top-up?

It is not often that a client will need a top up. Your practitioner will carefully place the wrinkle relaxing solution to ensure maximum effect meaning that the desired results are usually achieved at dat 14 post treatment. If there are any questions or concerns, then it is important to book in for a review at day 14 +- 2 days. This gives the practitioner enough time to add more product if needed.
